TʘM MϾANDREW

My name is Tom McAndrew and I’m an Irish mystery writer. With my surname being a bit long (and not to mention the .com domain of it being already taken :) ) I shortened things up to TʘM Ͼ and added in the two dots to resemble eyes because “sight” is a big theme in my writing. I liked too how the letter C also sounds the same as the word “see.” 

And then I found out that the web domain tomc.com was also taken so I went with the domain tomcwriter.com which I like because it kind of sounds like “Tom sees righter.”

Anyways, enough about the name thing, let me get back to telling you more about myself. I grew up in the west of Ireland (the picture is of my village). I went to college in Galway and Dublin, graduating with an MA in Media Studies, and I still live in Dublin. I'm married and have two children. 

I have written a series of funny (well I hope they’re funny) whodunnits which feature a scruffy, oddball detective named Doocey who’s starts losing his sight just as he’s assigned his first big case. Talk about bad timing! 

"Sight” as a subject matter has always fascinated me and having been through my own sight issues, I believe it is a subject I can authentically write about. And I’ve just signed a publishing deal to have my whodunnit series published which I’m over the moon about.

The act of writing, in my experience, is full of mysteries and it's these mysteries that I would like to explore, in a witty way, in my blog. I really hope you enjoy it.

Alongside my writing, I love to do Art which I studied at the National College of Art, Ireland (NCAD). I've included some of my creations below.
